Short Information of Annapurna Region
Namaste, dear traveler. Welcome to the Annapurna Region, one of the most beautiful and diverse trekking areas in all of Nepal. I’m your local guide from Glorious Eco Trek Nepal, and today, I’d love to walk you through what it feels like to explore this magical region. Every trail here has a story, every village greets you with a smile, and every mountain peak leaves you speechless.
From the challenging heights of Thorong La Pass to the peaceful paths through rhododendron forests, the Annapurna Region has something for every kind of trekker. Let me take you through each of our most popular Annapurna treks and help you choose the perfect one for your journey.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek – 11 Days
An iconic journey to the heart of the Himalayas
If you want to experience the true soul of the Annapurna Himalayas, then the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the journey I would recommend. Over the course of 11 days, we start from the peaceful city of Pokhara and make our way through scenic villages like Ghandruk and Chhomrong.
As we climb higher, you’ll notice the forests change from subtropical to alpine, and the air becomes crisp and cool. We’ll cross beautiful rivers and stone steps, rest in cozy tea houses, and meet local Gurung people who are known for their kind hospitality.
The highlight of this trek is, of course, reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters. Standing at the base of towering mountains like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare is a moment of pure awe. The energy up there is quiet and powerful. You’ll feel surrounded, protected, and deeply connected to nature.
Every day on this trek brings a new landscape, a new story, and a new appreciation for the beauty of Nepal.
Annapurna Base Camp with Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – 14 Days
Two stunning destinations in one unforgettable trek
For those who want a longer and more rewarding journey, we combine two of the most scenic treks in the Annapurna Region. This 14-day adventure begins with a climb toward Ghorepani and the famous viewpoint of Poon Hill.
We start early in the morning, before sunrise, and make our way up a gentle trail through the forest. At the top, the sky starts to lighten, and one by one, the peaks reveal themselves. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Machapuchare glow in the soft morning light. The view is wide and breathtaking.
After this magical experience, we continue on toward Annapurna Base Camp, taking time to explore villages, rivers, and peaceful valleys along the way. You get to enjoy the cultural richness of the lower hills and the raw natural beauty of the high mountains in one well-paced journey.
If you are someone who loves sunrises, photography, and meaningful trekking experiences, this combination trek is a perfect choice.
Annapurna Base Camp Heli Trek – 12 Days
A classic trekking route with a scenic helicopter flight back
This option is for those who want to enjoy the full experience of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp but prefer not to return on foot. Over 12 days, we follow the same beautiful trail to the base camp, passing through forests, villages, and high alpine landscapes.
You’ll still enjoy everything from Gurung culture to mountain views and warm village hospitality. But here’s the exciting part. After reaching Annapurna Base Camp and spending the night under the stars, we take a helicopter back to Pokhara.
The flight is short, but the views are outstanding. You’ll see the entire Annapurna Sanctuary from the air. Snowy ridges, hidden glaciers, and remote valleys stretch out below you. It’s the perfect way to end your adventure.
This trek is great for those with limited time or those who want a little more comfort after a challenging trek.
Annapurna Circuit Trek – 15 Days
A legendary journey through diverse landscapes and cultures
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most famous treks in the world, and for good reason. Over 15 days, we walk through changing landscapes that range from green rice fields to pine forests to barren high-altitude deserts.
We begin in the lower hills of Lamjung and slowly ascend to the high Himalayas. Every village we pass through is unique. In the lower region, you’ll meet people from Hindu backgrounds. As we climb higher, we enter Tibetan Buddhist communities where the culture, language, and lifestyle feel very different.
The high point of this trek is crossing Thorong La Pass, at 5,416 meters. It’s a big day and requires determination, but the reward is massive. From the top, you can see endless peaks, valleys, and sky. It’s a place that makes you feel truly alive.
This trek is perfect for those who want to experience the full variety of Nepal’s natural beauty and culture.
Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek – 18 Days
A tougher route with one of the world’s highest lakes
If you’re the kind of trekker who likes remote and quiet trails, this 18-day route is an excellent option. We follow the Annapurna Circuit route, but with a special side trip to Tilicho Lake, which sits at an altitude of 4,919 meters.
The lake is surrounded by cliffs and snow, and the water is a deep blue color. It’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever seen in the mountains.
After visiting the lake, we rejoin the main route and continue to Thorong La Pass. This version of the trek is more challenging and includes steeper sections and longer walking days, but it’s also more rewarding.
If you love photography, solitude, and high-altitude adventure, this trek will speak to your heart.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – 8 Days
Perfect for beginners and families with limited time
If you have one week and want to experience the Himalayas without going too high or too far, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is just right for you.
Over 8 days, we walk through forests filled with rhododendron flowers, visit friendly mountain villages, and sleep in warm teahouses. The highlight is waking up early in Ghorepani and hiking up to Poon Hill.
From there, you’ll get a full view of the mountains glowing in the morning sun. This is one of the best viewpoints in the entire country and a perfect reward for a short trek.
This trek is easy to moderate and is great for families, couples, solo travelers, and beginners.
Ghorepani Ghandruk Circuit Trek – 8 Days
A cultural loop with village charm and mountain views
This beautiful 8-day trek connects two of the most famous villages in the Annapurna Region—Ghorepani and Ghandruk.
We begin by climbing through lush forests to Ghorepani and then visit Poon Hill for the sunrise view. From there, we descend to the charming village of Ghandruk, which is home to the Gurung people.
You’ll get to experience their way of life, enjoy local food, and relax with beautiful views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare from your guesthouse window.
This trek is short, sweet, and full of heart. It’s ideal for those who want cultural interaction as much as mountain adventure.
Mardi Himal Trek – 7 to 9 Days
A quiet trail with close-up mountain views
Mardi Himal is still a hidden gem in the Annapurna Region. The trail is peaceful, less crowded, and full of stunning views.
We walk through rhododendron forests, climb narrow ridges, and reach viewpoints where you’ll feel like you can reach out and touch Machapuchare and Annapurna South. The final viewpoint is at over 4,000 meters, and the experience feels personal and powerful.
This trek is great for trekkers who want to avoid the crowds and experience raw mountain beauty in a short amount of time.
Khopra Danda Trek – 10 Days
Off-the-beaten-path trek with a chance to visit a sacred lake
The Khopra Danda Trek is another quiet and special trail in the Annapurna Region. Over 10 days, we guide you through peaceful forests, remote villages, and grassy ridgelines with incredible views.
One of the most rewarding parts of this trek is the optional hike to Khayer Lake, a sacred lake believed to be blessed by the gods. Few trekkers go there, but those who do never forget it.
Khopra Danda itself offers one of the best panoramic views in the region, with Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South right in front of you.
If you are looking for a meaningful, less-touristy trekking experience, this one is perfect.
