Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek – 7 Days Brief Insight

The Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek (ABC) is a spectacular journey across a diversified landscape and culture, along with stunning mountain vistas, terraced farms, tiny Gurung villages, and a vast range of flora and fauna. Mt. Annapurna (8091m) in Nepal is the world’s tenth tallest peak, and the trek to its base camp, at 4130m/13549ft, is one of the most popular hikes on the planet.

Other high-altitude hikes are more complex and take longer in Nepal. The journey includes landscapes, people, and animals. Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri are among the trek’s highlights, in addition to Annapurna’s most beautiful and up-close views.

The quiet setting, vegetation, and bright mountain range beaming you provide great vibes throughout the trip. Beautiful villages Ghandruk (2012m), Sinuwa (2340m), and Deurali (3230m) will serve as rest stops before arriving at Annapurna base camp.

Hiking to Annapurna Base Camp offers a beautiful combination of landscape variety and up-close views of peaks above 7,000 meters. The walk leads past terraced rice fields and lush rhododendron forests, culminating in a breathtaking vista of the Annapurna range.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins from Pokhara. We will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk (1940m / 6,364ft ) to Chomrong to Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (3720m) to Bamboo (2,350m / 7,700ft) to Jhinu Danda (1,780m / 6,393ft) and nearby natural hot springs.

Furthermore, again from Jhinu Danda (1,780m / 6,393ft) we will head to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi (1,150m / 3,770ft) drive to Pokhara (820m ) via Nayapul (1050m). Therefore, it is the entire route that we will follow during the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul / Syauli Bazaar / Kimche (1,784m) Trek to Ghandruk (1940m / 6,364ft )

Trek Distance :

32.2 km

Highest Altitude :

Ghandruk (1940m / 6,364ft )

Trek Duration :

6-7 hrs.

Meals :

Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

The first day of the trek to Annapurna Base camp trek ten days. Pokhara is the starting point of the tour. Our route begins from Pokhara, heads our way to Nayapul Syauli Bazar, Kimchi, and finally stops after hiking to Ghandruk.

We gathered with herds of other hikers out of town and into the rural territory, excited and full of enthusiasm. We eventually got our stride, and the trekking groups dispersed. As we scrambled up what seemed like an endless dirt road, the first two hours of the trip were a touch uninteresting. Things only became more fascinating (and annoying) once we started noticing signs for Ghandruk. If we thought the gravel road was endless, the stairs we had to climb were incomprehensible.

Day 02: Trek from Ghandruk (1940m / 6,364ft ) to Chomrong (2170m / 7,119ft)

Trek Distance :

4.9km

Highest Altitude :

Chomrong (2170m / 7,119ft)

Trek Duration :

5-6 hrs.

Meals :

Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

We will start the day after an early night and a good night’s sleep. Today you’ll travel through a variety of landscapes, including quarries, woods, rivers, and rice terraces. The path takes you all the way down into the lowlands before commanding you back up onto an uphill, making for a difficult day.

But, with all of the beautiful scenery and fauna you’ll see along the way, you’ll be inspired to keep going. The final stretch Khola to Chomrong is the most challenging section of the day.

Day 03: Trek from Chomrong (2170m / 7,119ft) to Himalaya (2,890m / 9,425ft)

Trek Distance :

22.7km

Highest Altitude :

Himalaya (2,890m / 9,425ft)

Trek Duration :

6-7 hrs.

Meals :

Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

After completing the most challenging trek to Chomrong the previous day, you might feel tired to continue your journey today.

Even if you are tired, your mind will feel more lively than it has in the past. Natural beauty like this is rare, and you’ll feel as if there’s nowhere else on the planet like it. The road out of Chomrong brings you down into a beautiful valley, where you’ll pass a crystalized mountain stream. It’s the final rise, which is particularly taxing on the legs, and you’ll likely notice the air becoming thinner.

Day 04: Trek from Himalaya (2,890m / 9,425ft) to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,550ft) via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (3720m)

Trek Distance :

9.2km

Highest Altitude :

Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,550ft)

Trek Duration :

7-8 hrs.

Meals :

Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

Today we will finally head to Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Our route follows via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp Trek.

It will be the challenging yet rewarding Annapurna Base camp Trek. If all goes well, you’ll arrive at base camp by the end of the day, and you’ll have completed the most challenging part of the journey. You’re high in the mountains now, and the incredible vistas make you feel as if you’ve arrived on another planet. Based on the time, there may even be snow on the ground. As we approached the base camp, I couldn’t put into words how it feels.

Day 05: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m / 13,550ft) to Bamboo (2,350m / 7,700ft)

Trek Distance :

16.7km

Highest Altitude :

Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m / 13,550ft)

Trek Duration :

6-7 hrs.

Meals :

Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch

This morning, we are greeted by the sight of the sunrise over Annapurna I, and after reflecting on our journey thus far, we retrace our steps back to Bamboo for the night. Today’s walk is downhill, so it shouldn’t be too challenging, but we’ll have the companionship of the beautiful scenery to keep us going. As you eat your dinner, you can rest and relax with your thoughts and the fantastic view of the many snow-capped peaks.

Day 06: Trek from Bamboo (2,350m / 7,700ft) to Jhinu Danda (1,780m / 6,393ft) and nearby natural hot springs

Today, we will get the opportunity to relax in hot springs, which are only a 15-20 minute downhill stroll from Jhinu Danda.

Day 07: Trek from Jhinu Danda (1,780m / 6,393ft) to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi (1,150m / 3,770ft) drive to Pokhara (820m ) via Nayapul (1050m)

Trek Distance :

8 km

Highest Altitude :

Trek Duration :

7-8 hrs.

Meals :

We get to see the incredible highland landscape of western Nepal on our approach to Nayapul from Jhinu Danda; our trail follows the Modi River and is breathtaking. We stop for lunch on the route to Nayapul, where our walk concludes, and then board our cars for a peaceful journey to Pokhara, where we will spend the night and reminisce about our exploits the day before.
