Itinerary Overview of Everest 3 Passes Trek 19 Days
Everest 3 Passes Trek – 19 Days begins with your arrival in Kathmandu, where you’ll have time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead. The next day, you’ll take a scenic flight to Lukla and start trekking towards Phakding, following the beautiful Dudh Koshi River. From Phakding, the trail leads you to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa town where you’ll spend an extra day to acclimatize, with options for a short hike to Everest View Hotel or nearby villages. Continuing the journey, you’ll trek through rhododendron forests to Tengboche, famous for its monastery and views of Ama Dablam, then onwards to Dingboche for another rest and acclimatization hike.
The real adventure begins as you cross Kongma La Pass (5,535m), the highest of the three passes, and descend to Lobuche. From here, you’ll trek to Everest Base Camp, stand at the foot of the world’s tallest mountain, and return to Gorak Shep for the night. The next morning, a climb to Kalapatthar (5,545m) rewards you with breathtaking sunrise views over Everest. You’ll then head to Dzongla and cross Cho La Pass (5,420m), another challenging but stunning section, before reaching Thagnak and then Gokyo, where you can explore the beautiful Gokyo Lakes and climb Gokyo Ri (5,360m) for panoramic mountain views.
Your final high pass, Renjo La (5,360m), offers more incredible vistas before you descend to Lungden and trek through remote Sherpa villages to Thame. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our team will await you at the airport. We will transfer you to your hotel after a hearty greeting. Use this time to settle in, tour the colorful city, and sample the local food before beginning the hike.
You can witness a traditional Nepalese dance and cultural presentation in the evening. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and connect with local traditions, adding an enriching cultural experience to the start of your Everest 3 Passes Trek.

Day 02: Flight from Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft) to Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft) Trek to Phakding (2650m / 8562ft)
Our journey will begin with an exciting flight to Lukla. We will initially pick you up and take you to the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport. We’ll board the airplane to Lukla after checking all of our documents.
The stunning 360-degree view of mountains, verdant hills, and the entire region is included in the flight. After arriving at Tenzing Hilary Airport, we shall meet the rest of the team members.
We will begin our Everest 3 Passes Trek from Lukla and go to Phakding. Phakding will take you 3 hours to reach.
We’ll take a stroll through Lukla’s communities. You can spend your free time exploring the surrounding monasteries. Phakding is where you will spend the night.
Note: During the peak season, flights to Lukla are switched to Manthali Airport near Ramechhap to ease congestion and restricted capacity at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
This redirection intends to improve the overall travel experience for trekkers traveling to Lukla by providing a smoother and more effective flight operation. Travelers must take the road from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport and board their flight to Lukla.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding (2,650m /8,562ft) to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft)
Leaving Phakding, we will continue our trek to Namche Bazaar after breakfast. The trail passes along the Dudh Koshi River’s northern bank. Many suspension bridges span the Dudh Koshi River throughout the tour.
We shall arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park Check Post if we continue the trek. You should obtain your admission permits registered here. After that, we’ll go for a strenuous climb through the forest.
As you pass through the forest, you will start getting a glimpse of Mt. Everest. We will arrive in Namche Bazaar after 6 hours of trek. Overnight stay in a hotel in Namche.

Day 04: Rest day to acclimatize at Namche Bazaar
We’ll acclimate and tour the Namche Bazaar today. Since Namche Bazaar is a trading center with the Tibetan border, you may find many services here.
We’ll begin the day with a spectacular climb to the Everest View Hotel, the world’s highest hotel. We will enjoy our breakfast here with a spectacular view of Mt. Everest in front of us. Then we’ll descend to Khunde and Khumjung, where you can trek or visit the Sagarmatha National Park.
Our track descends to Namche Bazaar after we’ve explored. You can unwind and prepare for the next day’s hike. Namche is where you will spend the night.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft) to Thame (3750m / 12,303ft)
Leaving Namche Bazaar, we will ascend to Thame. The trail goes along the Bhote Khosi River and crosses the pine forest. Arriving at Phurte, you can see the stupa.
Walking ahead from here will take us to Thamo. Then the trail goes steeply to the Khumbu Hydroelectric Plant. Finally, a few minutes of the trek will take us to Thame.
Thame has been the origin of many famous mountaineers. It is the ending village of Khumbu Valley. Overnight stay in Thame.

Day 06: Trek from Thame (3,750m / 12,303ft) to Lungden (4,500m / 14,764ft)
After having breakfast, we will make an early trek to Lungden. Enjoying the mountain and landscape views, we will ascend the journey. The altitude rises as we cross Thame.
The trail goes along the Marulung village. A few hours of walk from Marulung will take us to Lungden village. You can also visit the Napa Valley, which used to be the trade route with Tibet.
You also have an option to hike to Cho Relmo Lake if you’ve got spare time. Overnight stay in Lungden.

Day 07: Trek from Lungden (4,500m / 14,764ft) to Gokyo Lake (4,750m / 15,583ft) via Renjo La Pass (5,446m / 17,867ft))
Today, we will be covering one of the enjoyable and strenuous parts of the trek. The trail heads towards Gokyo Lake.
On the way, we will pass through the Renjo La Pass, which offers you a mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), and Mt. Lhotse (8516m). Along with mountains, you can also see various lakes from this pass.
Finally, after 8 hours of trek, we will reach Gokyo Valley. We will spend a night in this beautiful valley.

Day 08: Rest day to acclimatize at Gokyo. Early morning at Gokyo Ri (5,400m / 17,814ft) Viewpoint
We’ll take a day to acclimate to this stunning location. The Gokyo Valley will be thoroughly explored. We’ll begin by trekking to Gokyo Ri, one of the region’s most famous viewpoints.
The Gokyo Ri viewpoint provides views of Nepal’s top four highest mountains: Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, we’ll descend to Gokyo Lake.
One of Nepal’s most beautiful and clean lakes is Gokyo Lake. Staying near the lake has a magical vibe about it. Around the lake, you can take photos and film. We’ll return after we’ve finished investigating the remaining locations.

Day 09: Trek from Gokyo (4,790m / 15,584ft) to Thangnak (4,700m / 15,400ft)
We shall continue our trek towards Thagnak after leaving Gokyo. Today’s roads are full of ups and downs, which may be difficult for you to navigate. However, we can cross it properly because we are not gaining altitude.
Ngozumpa Glacier will be our next stop. We will arrive in Thagnak village after a 5-hour journey.
This is a lovely town on the slope of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Thagnak village is where you will spend the night.

Day 10: Trek from Thangnak (4,700m / 15,400ft) to Dzongla (4,855m / 15,930ft) via Cho La Pass (5420m /17,783ft)
We’ll continue our journey towards Dzongla after breakfast. We’ll hike to the Cho La Pass across the glacier moraines.
The Cho La Pass offers breathtaking views of Mt. Cholatse and the Cho La Lake.
We’ll stroll downward from here, giving you a spectacular vista. After a difficult day of trekking, we will arrive in Dzongla. Dzongla will be our home for the night.

Day 11: Trek from Dzongla (4,855m / 15,930ft) to Lobuche (4,910m / 16,175ft)
We have a short hike to accomplish today. We’ll leave Dzongla and travel to Louche. We have a better picture of Everest as we move closer to Lobuche. Following the moraine, the trail descends to Cho La Lake.
The Khumbu Glacier runs parallel to our path. The Lobuche leads us to the traditional Everest route. The memorials of the climbers who died during the Everest climb may be seen.
Imja Khola is on the way to us. Finally, after a lovely trip, we will arrive in Lobuche, which puts us within striking distance of Everest. Lobuche is where you will spend the night.

Day 12: Trek from Lobuche (4,930m / 16,175ft) to Everest Base Camp and back (5,364m / 17,598ft) to Gorak Shep (5,185m / 17,010ft)
This is an exciting stage of the Everest 3 Passes Trek. Getting to a greater altitude will undoubtedly be challenging.
We’ll begin our journey by going to Gorak Shep. We must gather our strength and walk to Everest Base Camp from Gorak Shep. We will finally arrive at Everest Base Camp.
The views from the base camp are breathtaking. In addition, the Khumbu glacier may be seen from here. You can snap a few photos and films that will serve as Everest mementos. The climbers may be seen here, all set to go. Then, we will descend back to Gorak Shep for the night.

Day 13: Hike to Kala Patthar Viewpoint (5,555m / 18,208ft), trek to Lobuche (4,910m / 16,175ft)
Waking up early in the morning, we hike to Kala Patthar Viewpoint. We will have to walk early to capture the fascinating sunrise view. We will spend some time viewing this beautiful sunrise over Mt. Everest. Afterwards, we will descend back to Gorakshep. We will have breakfast at Gorakshep and rest for a while.
Then, we will continue the short Trek to Lobuche. Overnight stay in Lobuche.

Day 14: Trek from Lobuche (4,930m / 16,175ft) to Chhukung (4,730m / 15,580ft) via Kongma La Pass (5,535m / 18,159ft)
Today we will cross another pass of the three keys. Leaving Lobuche, we will ascend towards Kongma La Pass. You can see the frozen lakes along the way. Reaching this high altitude pass, you can see the breathtaking view of Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and many more mountains. The trail is difficult today.
Then we will descend the eastern side of Nigyang Khola Valley after enjoying the view from the pass. Finally, we will enter the Chhukung Village. You can see yak pastures all around the village. Overnight stay in Chhukung village.

Day 15: Trek from Chhukung (4,730m / 15,580ft) to Tengboche (3,855m / 12,850ft)
We will start to descend our trail after completing all three passes. The trail descends along the Imja Khola Valley. We will pass through highland sheds in Tsura, Orsho, and Shomare. Moving ahead, we will arrive at Pangboche Village. From here, we will trek to Tengboche.
We can also climb to the Tengboche viewpoint for mountain views. Here is also the famous Tengboche monastery. Overnight stay in Tengboche.

Day 16: Trek from Tengboche (3,855m / 12,850ft) to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft)
Leaving Tengboche, we will descend the trail to Namche Bazaar. The trail passes through the forest, where you might encounter unique wildlife animals. Crossing the forest part, we will do a steep climb which takes us to the chorten. We will be now saying a bye to Mt. Everest.
Finally, after 5 hours of trek, we will reach Namche Bazaar. You can enjoy the facilities of Namche and relax for the night.

Day 17: Trek from Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft) to Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft)
Here is the last day of our trek. We will be descending back to Lukla for our flight. We will have breakfast early in the morning, then steeply descend to Hillary Suspension Bridge. The trail passes through small and big villages along the Dudh Koshi River Valley.
After reaching Lukla, we will settle in the tea house/ lodge and manage our stuff for tomorrow. Overnight stay in Lukla.

Arrival, Welcome, and Start of Trek
Once you share your flight details, our representative will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, holding a sign with your name. You’ll receive a warm welcome with a traditional Khada scarf or marigold garland and be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. Upon request, we can also assist in booking a comfortable hotel.
Accommodation During the Trek
During the trek, you will stay for 18 nights in local lodges or teahouses. Rooms are typically twin-sharing. Private bathrooms are available in Lukla, Phakding (2 nights), and Namche (3 nights), while other remote areas such as Thame, Lungden, Gokyo, Dzongla, Lobuche, Chhukung, and Gorakshep provide standard shared facilities.
Most teahouses offer electricity, Wi-Fi, and hot showers, but these may come at an additional cost.
Note: This package does not include hotel accommodation or meals in Kathmandu. We recommend staying at least 2 nights in Kathmandu—before and after your trek.
Meals Provided on the Trek
You’ll receive 19 breakfasts, 18 lunches, and 19 dinners. Meals include one main course per meal. You can enjoy a mix of local Nepali food (dal bhat), Tibetan dishes (noodle soup, momos), and Western meals (sandwiches, pasta, pancakes).
Stay hydrated by drinking warm liquids like garlic soup, ginger tea, and lemon tea. Avoid meat, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol to help your body adjust to the altitude.
Hot drinks, bottled water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages are available but not included in the package.
Luggage and Porter Service
One porter will be assigned to every two trekkers, carrying a total of 18 kg (about 9 kg per person). We recommend sharing a large duffel bag (60L+) with your trekking partner.
Extra luggage can be stored at your hotel or our office in Kathmandu free of charge.
Facilities and Essentials
Water:
You can purchase bottled water or use a refillable water bottle with boiled or filtered water. We provide purification tablets on request.
Communication:
You can buy a local SIM card in Kathmandu. Mobile signals work in some areas but are weak or unavailable at higher altitudes. Our office keeps in touch with your group daily through the trekking guide.
Important Travel Information
Visa:
Most foreign nationals (except Indian citizens) require a visa to enter Nepal. You can get it on arrival at Kathmandu Airport. Bring a valid passport (6+ months), two passport-sized photos, and around USD 50 for a 30-day visa. Always check the official Nepal immigration website for the latest updates.
Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance is mandatory and should include emergency helicopter evacuation up to 5,500 meters. Confirm coverage with your insurance provider.
Currency Exchange:
1 USD = approx. NPR 133. You can exchange major currencies (USD, EURO, GBP) in Kathmandu or use ATMs with some transaction fees. Indian INR 100 notes are accepted in Nepal.
Extra Costs:

Flight Delays to Lukla

Safe & Official Bookings:
We are a licensed trekking company registered with the Government of Nepal. A 10% deposit is required to confirm your trek via bank transfer, Wise, or our website.
Send your passport copy, flight info, insurance, and photos within 1 week of booking. The remaining balance can be paid upon arrival via cash, bank transfer, Wise, Western Union, or card.
