After a long uphill walk, we reach Namche Bazaar, the main town in the Khumbu region. Namche is lively, with shops, cafes, bakeries, and trekking gear stores. From here, you can see the peaks of Kongde Ri, and on a clear day, your first view of Mount Everest.

Pangboche is the highest permanent village in the area and is home to one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu region.
Beyond Pangboche, the landscape changes as the trees become fewer and open alpine meadows appear. Along the trail, we see stone walls, prayer carvings, and small chortens. As we approach Dingboche, the path becomes easier, with wide views of the valley. Fields of barley and potatoes are protected by stone fences, and you may see yaks grazing nearby.

This hike follows the “climb high, sleep low” principle, which helps prevent altitude sickness.
After returning to Dingboche, you can rest and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is free to relax, drink plenty of water, or explore the village. After breakfast, we start walking from Dingboche toward Lobuche. The trail climbs gently through open alpine land, with beautiful views of Taboche and Cholatse. After a few hours, we reach Dughla, a small spot where most trekkers stop for lunch.
From Dughla, the trail becomes steeper as we climb to Thukla Pass. Along the way, you will see stone memorials dedicated to climbers and Sherpas who lost their lives on Everest. This is a quiet and emotional part of the trek, reminding us of the courage and strength of those who faced the mountain.
After spending some time at the memorials, we continue along the rocky path beside the Khumbu Glacier until we reach Lobuche. The air gets colder and thinner as we go higher, so it is important to walk slowly and drink plenty of water. Lobuche is a small village with simple teahouses surrounded by tall peaks. Nights are usually cold, and some trekkers may start to feel the effects of the altitude here.
Activity: 5-6 hrs
Max. Altitude: 4,910m/16,109ft. ()

Today is one of the most exciting days of the trek. We start early and walk along the Khumbu Glacier toward Gorak Shep, the last village before Everest Base Camp. The trail is rocky and slow, but the tall peaks around make the walk amazing.
At Gorak Shep, we leave our heavy bags at the teahouse and continue to Everest Base Camp, carrying only what we need. The path is uneven and the air is thin, but the excitement of reaching the world’s highest mountain keeps everyone going.
After about two to three hours, we reach Everest Base Camp, surrounded by colorful tents of expedition teams during climbing season. Although the summit is not visible from here, the place is full of energy and feels very special. We take time to enjoy the view, take photos, and celebrate this incredible achievement. Later, we walk back to Gorak Shep for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Activity: 6-7 hrs
Max. Altitude: 5,364m/17,598ft. ()

Did You Know? The Khumbu Icefall, visible from EBC, is cosidered one of the most dangerous sections of the Everest ascent route.

From here, you can see Mount Everest up close, along with Nuptse, Changtse, and other nearby peaks. Watching the first light touch the summit of Everest is a truly unforgettable and emotional experience. After enjoying the views and taking photos, we walk back down to Gorak Shep for breakfast.

General
The Luxury Everest Base Camp with Helicopter Return Trek is a 12-day premium adventure that combines the thrill of trekking to the base of Mount Everest with the comfort of luxury lodges and a scenic helicopter flight back to Kathmandu. This trek is ideal for those who want the full Everest experience but prefer comfort and a shorter itinerary.
This trek offers the highest level of comfort and service in the Everest region. You’ll stay in premium lodges, enjoy gourmet meals, personalized attention from professional guides, and experience exclusive helicopter transfers. Every detail is designed to provide an unforgettable Himalayan journey with minimal physical strain.
The trek is moderately challenging, suitable for those with good physical fitness. It involves several days of walking at high altitude, with gradual ascents and acclimatization stops. While no climbing skills are required, participants should be comfortable walking 5–7 hours a day on mountain trails.
The entire journey lasts 12 days, including your arrival in Kathmandu, flight to Lukla, trekking days to Everest Base Camp, and a helicopter return to Kathmandu from Gorakshep or Pheriche.
No, prior trekking experience is not mandatory. The itinerary is carefully planned to allow proper acclimatization and comfort. However, maintaining a basic level of fitness and preparing with regular hikes or cardio training is recommended.
The best months for this trek are March to May and September to November, when the skies are clear and mountain views are outstanding. Winter months (December–February) offer crisp weather and fewer crowds, while the monsoon season (June–August) is less favorable due to rain and clouds.
Preparation & Fitness
This trek is moderately challenging. While it’s not a technical climb, walking several hours each day at high altitude requires stamina and determination. The helicopter return reduces the physical strain of long descents, making it a more comfortable option. With basic fitness, good preparation, and a positive mindset, most people can complete it successfully.
Yes, training is highly recommended. Regular walking, hiking, or cardio exercises help your body adjust to long trekking days and the thin mountain air. Consistent fitness routines make the journey smoother and more enjoyable.
It’s best to start training 4 to 6 weeks before the trip. Focus on building endurance, leg strength, and overall stamina. Try walking uphill, using stairs, or hiking with a backpack to simulate real trekking conditions.
Start with daily walks and weekend hikes to get used to longer distances. Combine this with cardio workouts like running, cycling, or swimming, and light strength training for your legs and core. The goal is steady progress rather than speed.
Acclimatization is built into the itinerary. To help your body adjust better:
-
Walk at a slow, steady pace
-
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
-
Avoid alcohol and smoking
-
Listen to your guide’s advice and take rest days seriously
These steps help prevent altitude sickness and ensure a safer, more enjoyable experience.
You’ll typically walk 5 to 7 hours per day, depending on the section of the trail and your pace. The schedule allows for gradual altitude gain and enough rest at luxury lodges along the route.

You will need two permits for this trek:

Yes, it’s possible, but not ideal.
-
During the monsoon season (June to August), clouds and rain can reduce visibility, affecting helicopter schedules and flight safety.

If you plan to travel in these months, our team will arrange the itinerary carefully around the weather for your comfort and safety.
Expect cool, clear days and cold nights, especially at higher altitudes. Daytime temperatures usually range between 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), while nights can drop below freezing above 4,000 meters. Luxury lodges provide warm blankets and heated dining areas to keep you comfortable even in chilly evenings.

If you become ill or injured, they will assess your condition and provide immediate assistance. This is why comprehensive travel insurance with helicopter coverage is mandatory.
We manage altitude carefully by following a gradual ascent schedule and including acclimatization stops in key locations. Our guides monitor your oxygen levels and overall health daily. Drinking plenty of water, resting well, and trekking at a steady pace are key to safe acclimatization. In case of severe symptoms, immediate helicopter descent can be arranged for safety.

For the Lukla flight, the weight limit is generally 10–15 kg per person (including both duffel and hand luggage).
For the helicopter return, total weight must be strictly within safety limits usually around 450–500 kg for the entire group. The team will help coordinate and manage luggage accordingly.

Transportation & Flight
Yes, Glorious Eco Trek Nepal provides complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off services for all guests. From your arrival in Kathmandu to your final departure, our team ensures smooth and comfortable transfers in private vehicles.
The journey begins with a domestic flight from Kathmandu (or Manthali) to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, your luxury trekking adventure begins on foot through beautiful Sherpa villages and scenic trails toward Everest Base Camp.
Yes. Lukla flights are operated by highly experienced mountain pilots who specialize in short-runway operations. All flights follow strict safety standards and are scheduled during morning hours when weather conditions are most stable.
Weather-related delays are possible due to changing mountain conditions. In such cases, our team will rearrange your flight schedule or, if necessary, arrange a private helicopter to Lukla when conditions allow. We always prioritize your safety and comfort, ensuring minimal disruption to your itinerary.
This trek features a helicopter return from Gorakshep or Pheriche to Kathmandu, replacing the long descent normally required. The helicopter flight offers breathtaking aerial views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks while saving several days of walking. It’s one of the highlights of the luxury itinerary and provides a safe, scenic, and time-efficient return.
Yes, absolutely. The helicopters are operated by certified aviation companies with experienced high-altitude pilots. All flights are subject to real-time weather assessments, and departures are scheduled only under safe flying conditions. The helicopters are regularly maintained and equipped for mountain operations.
While helicopter returns are generally more reliable than regular flights, weather in the Himalayas can still cause delays. We recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days in your travel plan to ensure flexibility in case of any unexpected weather changes.
In Kathmandu and during any road transfers, guests travel in comfortable private vehicles such as SUVs, vans, or cars, depending on group size. All transfers are organized to match your flight schedules and ensure a seamless travel experience.
